The Next Big Thing!!

You would have to live under a rock not to of heard of the amazing talented Milliner and fashion designer Carrie Jenkinson who has been slowly but surely making her way up the fashion ladder for the last couple of years!

Her quirky and individual designs have been getting more and more popular in the US and when she launched an exclusive collection for Hatsational in New York City last month I was just absolutely desperate to interview her and I was blessed that she gave me the opportunity to find out more about this flourishing designer!

Carrie works from a studio based at home and has been working as a designer and milliner now for 6 years! In this short time, she has launched Collections across the world and now has Collections for House of Fraser on Oxford street as well as exclusive collections for Jigsaw in Australia and Lovehats alongside the UK’s biggest and Brightest millinery elite including Philip Treacy and William Chambers.

Unbelievably, Carrie’s big break came very early on in her career when she was invited to design Masquerade masks for the Elephant Family and as a result worked alongside some of the biggest names in the business Vivienne Westwood, Manolo Blahnik, Matthew Williamson, Mario Testino to name but a few.

Since this remarkable event, Carrie has gone on to gain hat fans across the globe gaining more and more interest from every corner with her headpieces turning heads at some of the biggest race events of the year from Ascot to The Melbourne Cup.

As her popularity grows I’m wondering what’s next on the cards for her! Is she the next big thing?? I think we should all watch this space, I for one will be watching to see just how big a fashion star Carrie is set to be!!

Since its beginnings in 1839, the Grand National has been and always will be the largest steeple chase event in Europe with over 4 miles, 3 1/2 furlongs and 30 fences over 2 circuits. It is the biggest and most valuable jump race in Europe and is watched by an estimated 500/600 million people worldwide!

If you are thinking of attending the event this year at Aintree Racecourse then you need to stand out! Although it’s not considered as being the fashion event that Ascot has become, it’s still absolutely essential to wear something that stands out so you get noticed!

I always suggest choosing something comfortable and stylish. It is essential that you wear gorgeous yet practical shoes. You don’t know it yet but you are going to be on your feet all day! If you are really looking to make a statement then you should definitely check out our Couture Fascinators, hats and headwear for something that really stands out!

If you’re looking for something simpler then check out our new range that’s now available in House of Fraser. They stand out but not in an overpowering way. All our fascinators, hats and headpieces are light and easy to wear with comfortable headbands that can easily be worn all day. All of our headpieces are available from our website www.carriejenkinson.co.uk

They’ll be plenty of things to get excited about from best jockeys around to the ladies off-track as they display their colourful and gorgeous styles and to the fun of putting a bet on your favourite horses. So at this early, I suggest you check out the odds here for the Grand National Ladies Day

It is not too late yet, so hurry on and order the best dresses, fascinators and headpieces and see you on the Grand National Day this 9th-11th of April.

Good luck!!!

So… I’ve been a bit quiet on the blog front as I’ve been away in London doing a fabulous fascinator class with world renowned milliner Thomas Von Nordheim!

The course was amazing and I learned so many wonderful things that will hopefully allow me to bring my customers new designs and ideas when putting together bespoke headpieces.

It was great to learn about blocking techniques which means I can now create some funky designs! Here’s a pic of the one I made on the course
